Government aims to increase the number of Drug Inspectors to strengthen surveillance and enforcement: Assembly Report

Agartala: April 01: Tripura's Chief Minister, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, recently addressed concerns about counterfeit drugs in the state during a Legislative Assembly session. He revealed that one Drug Inspector position is currently vacant due to retirement, but assured the Assembly that the government is taking necessary actions to address the issue ¹.
Dr. Saha mentioned that 40 Drug Inspectors are overseeing surveillance in the state, with 18 directly recruited and six promoted. He also emphasized the government's commitment to combating counterfeit drugs and strengthening the healthcare system in Tripura.
The issue of counterfeit drugs is a significant concern across India, with alarming statistics showing that counterfeit drugs account for ₹20,000 crore worth of the market. In Tripura, the government is taking steps to establish drug testing laboratories in the state's eight districts and 23 subdivisions.
