Agartala: April 01: On the final day of the Legislative Assembly's budget session, CPI(M) legislators from the opposition bench remained absent, continuing their boycott of the proceedings. The decision to boycott was made earlier in the week by CPI(M) supporters, who expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s conduct during the session.

According to the opposition, their complaints and statements were disregarded by the Speaker, who they accused of being politically biased. This perceived lack of impartiality led to the decision by CPI(M) legislators to not participate in the remainder of the budget session. The opposition party claimed that the Speaker’s refusal to listen to their grievances and the overall handling of the session created an environment that was not conducive to fair debate and dialogue.

The boycott was viewed as a form of protest against what the CPI(M) called "unfair" treatment and an attempt to express their dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s role in the session. While the opposition maintained their stance, the ruling party strongly condemned their decision, accusing them of undermining the session and obstructing the functioning of the legislative process.

Despite the boycott, the budget session proceeded, with the ruling party continuing to push forward its agenda. The absence of the opposition legislators on the final day marked a dramatic end to the week-long budget discussions, highlighting the ongoing tensions between the ruling and opposition parties in the Legislative Assembly. The issue of the Speaker's impartiality remains a contentious point, with the opposition pledging to continue raising the matter in future sessions.
