In a significant stride towards sustainable agriculture and rural development, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Tripura Regional Office, is spearheading the "Capacity Building for Adoption of Technology (CAT)" program. This initiative, under the visionary leadership of Loken Das, General Manager of NABARD, is revolutionizing the way farmers in Tripura approach their farming activities.

The CAT program, which focuses on awareness and promotion of clean and green energy solutions, recently held a transformative training session at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The program aims to empower farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to integrate clean and sustainable energy practices into their farming routines.

Farmers are at the heart of this initiative, which recognizes the potential of clean and green energy solutions to not only reduce the cost of farming but also increase profitability, particularly for the large number of marginal farmers in Tripura. Approximately 25 enthusiastic farmers participated in the training program, which has conducted under the able supervision of Prof. Saroj Kumar Nayak, School of Basic Sciences at IIT Bhubaneswar. The participants, hailing from diverse backgrounds from Tripura, were eager to embrace the benefits of clean energy for their agricultural activities.

The training program encompassed several key objectives and focus areas, including: Farmers were educated about the various advantages of adopting clean and green energy practices in agriculture, Practical knowledge and skills were imparted to enable farmers to effectively integrate clean energy solutions into their farming processes, Strategies were explored to reduce farming costs by adopting sustainable energy practices, which, in turn, could bolster profitability and the program aimed to facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies in agriculture, in line with Tripura's sustainable development goals.

The dedication and commitment of NABARD, alongside the active participation of organizations like BAPCL, are driving positive change and fostering a sustainable approach to farming in the region. As the CAT program continues to make strides in promoting clean and green energy solutions, it holds the potential to uplift the lives of farmers, reduce the environmental footprint of agriculture, and contribute significantly to the development of rural communities in Tripura
