Rabindra Jayanti Celebrated Across Tripura State to Honor Poet Rabindranath Tagore

Agartala, May 08: Today, the 25th of Baisakh, marks Rabindra Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the renowned Bengali poet, scholar, novelist, playwright, humanist, and philosopher, Rabindranath Tagore. Born on May 7, 1861, in Jorasanko Thakurbari, Kolkata, Tagore’s legacy continues to inspire people worldwide.

In commemoration of this literary luminary, Rabindra Jayanti is being celebrated across Tripura state. The day began with a Prabhati Kavipranam program at Rabindra Kunj, organized by the Information and Cultural Department. Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary of the department, paid his respects by garlanding the statue of the poet guru. Children participated in recitations and other activities during the morning program.

The celebration extended beyond official events. A procession, organized by the Bangla Sanskriti Belay Agartala Sangsad, took place in Agartala city. Children enthusiastically participated, making it a joyous occasion. Kshudiram Basu English Medium School also organized a procession, aiming to inspire students through Tagore’s teachings.

At Chhatra Yuvak Bhavan, poet guru Rabindranath Tagore was honored on his 164th birth anniversary. Various organizations, including SFI, TSU, DYFI, and TYF, celebrated the day with due respect. Palash Bhoumik, DYFI state president, joined other leaders and members in paying homage to the literary icon.

Rabindra Jayanti serves as a reminder of Tagore’s enduring impact on literature, culture, and humanity.
