Agartala: Mar 26: Three young men were detained by locals on Wednesday after they were found with intoxicating substances in Udaipur. This incident took place along the northern bank of Udaipur Jagannath Dighi, as part of a broader state government initiative to create a drug-free environment. The locals, suspicious of the young men’s behavior, questioned them, leading to the discovery of a significant amount of intoxicating tablets in their possession.

Upon being alerted by the locals, officers from the Radha Kishorepur police station arrived at the scene promptly. They took the three young men into custody and transported them to the station for further investigation. Additionally, a motorcycle was seized from the individuals, which could be connected to their activities.

The detained men were identified as Jalil Mia, 39, a rickshaw puller residing in Udaipur Rajarbagh area; Royal Hossain, 25; and Rakesh Pal, 34. The authorities are currently questioning them regarding the source of the drugs and their intended use. The situation highlights the active role of local communities in identifying and reporting criminal activities, especially as the state government pushes its drug-free initiative.

While this arrest is a significant step in the crackdown on drug trafficking and substance abuse, authorities have cautioned that this is just one part of a larger ongoing effort to eradicate drugs from the state. The police have promised further action to ensure that such substances do not spread within the community and have pledged to continue working closely with locals to maintain public safety. All three suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are continuing.
