Agartala: Nov 17:  In 2023, the Statehood Demand Committee was formed, and now it has emerged as a political party named the State Democratic Party (SDP). The party has appointed Amulya Reang as its President and Jampu Debbarma as the General Secretary. The party's Chairman is Aghore Debbarma.

Speaking to the media, Chairman Aghore Debbarma expressed his concerns about the political exploitation of indigenous communities in the state. He claimed that various political forces are misleading the people by making false promises related to the demand for "Greater Tipraland" or "Tipraland." According to him, these demands are merely political tools used to secure ministerial positions. He alleged that these political leaders were manipulating the tribal communities for their own political gains.

Aghore Debbarma also criticized Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the former leader of Tipra Motha, accusing him of stepping back from the original demands for tribal welfare. He remarked that Pradyot, who once advocated for the rights of indigenous people, has now become part of the political game, betraying the real cause. He further stated, “Keep deceiving as much as you want, deceive until Tiprasa is eradicated.”

Regarding the objectives of the newly formed State Democratic Party, Chairman Debbarma emphasized that the party is not anti-Bengali. Rather, it aims to fight for the rights of the indigenous Tiprasa people in a democratic manner. The party will work towards the development of the Tiprasa community, advocating for various demands to ensure their welfare and progress. The SDP, according to Debbarma, will engage in peaceful movements to achieve these goals and promote the socio-economic advancement of the tribal people.
