Awareness key to combat cyber frauds: RBI

Reserve Bank of India General Manager and head of Agartala regional office Surendra Nidar on Thursday said that RBI has undertaken multiple initiatives to make people aware of the financial frauds being carried out using the internet as a medium. Speaking in the sidelines of the quiz competition organised to mark 90 years of RBI, Nidar said, “RBI has started tokenisation of cards which prevents stealing of card details used for financial transactions. Apart from that we have introduced two factor authentications which further enhance the security of the transaction. Apart from that, we are organising workshops, orientation programmes and discussion sessions for school going teens, college students and people who are associated with different kinds of business.” Elaborating on the quiz competition which is taking place here, he said, “We are conducting a pan-India college level quiz competition. The state level finals are being held here today. The winning team will compete at the zonal level and the winner of the zonal team will represent their zones in the finals slated to be held in Mumbai sometime in December this year.” The RBI has announced an attractive cash prize of Rs 10 lakh for the winning team of the national level.
