CM slams ex CM Manik Sarkar over job issue

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday sharply reacted to the recent statement made by former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar who accused the ruling party of indulging in corrupt practices for jobs. He claimed that the job market is shrinking and whatever jobs are left in the government sector could only be secured through corruption. “Large number of outsiders are getting jobs here. It is a fact that there is no legal prohibition but the government must prioritise giving jobs to the eligible youth of their own state who are undergoing a very difficult time,” said Sarkar. Reacting to Sarkar’s statement, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday said that a leader of his stature must avoid making such petty statements. “When the Left was in power, a recruitment process used to take more than a decade to get completed. Now, the situation is totally different. And, the question of corruption doesn't arise when we have a guardian like Modi Ji sitting in the top chair and keeping a close watch on everyone,” Dr Saha told media persons. Stating that Sarkar had been spreading misleading statements, Dr Saha said, “He should abstain from stooping that low. We could never expect words like these from a respected leader like him.” Speaking about the recruitment drive, Dr Saha said, “When the Left was in power, the primary qualification to ensure a job was to participate in long processions of the party.
