Tripura Government Inaugurates Modern Sports Facilities to Promote Athletics

Agartala: April 03: The Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, has reaffirmed the state's commitment to advancing the sports sector by providing modern infrastructure and support for athletes. On Thursday, at the Dasarath Deb Sports Complex in Badharghat, Agartala, the Chief Minister inaugurated three synthetic sports grounds named after eminent sports personalities from the state: Devbhakti Jamatia Synthetic Athletic Turf, Swadeshpriya Nandi Synthetic Hockey Ground, and Pratul Bhattacharya Synthetic Turf Football Ground.

 

Highlighting the discipline and dedication of individuals involved in sports, Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of preserving their legacy for future generations. He also announced that the newly constructed 200-bed youth hostel in Ambassa would be named after Madhusudan Saha to honor sports figures who have contributed to Tripura's legacy. The Chief Minister cited Padma Shri Olympian gymnast Dipa Karmakar as a testament to the success achievable through perseverance and determination.

 

Dr. Saha underscored the role of sports in fostering a healthy society and keeping young people away from harmful habits. He also revealed plans to establish advanced sports facilities at Bholagiri in Agartala and announced initiatives to recognize former sports personalities who brought acclaim to the state.

 

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy spoke about various measures being taken to improve sports infrastructure in Tripura. The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, officials from the Tripura Sports Council, Padma Shri Olympian gymnast Dipa Karmakar, and other representatives. During the event, the Chief Minister also honored the families of the deceased sports personalities.
