Agartala: Dec 29: Agartala's Smart City initiative is facing a challenge with unauthorized advertisements and banners popping up all over the city. Despite the Agartala Municipal Corporation's efforts to beautify the city, certain companies are installing banners without permission, obstructing the city's aesthetic appeal ¹.

The issue has caught the attention of Mayor Dipak Majumdar, who has warned that strict action will be taken against those responsible. Recently, a cement company was fined ₹4.5 lakh for putting up unauthorized advertisements across the city and state.

To tackle this issue, the municipal authorities will use CCTV cameras to identify those involved in installing unauthorized banners. The corporation is committed to maintaining the city's beauty and ensuring that such violations are dealt with effectively.

It's worth noting that Agartala's Smart City initiative is part of a larger program aimed at developing 100 cities across India, making them more citizen-friendly and sustainable ². The project includes various measures to improve urban mobility and livability, such as upgrading roads and drainage systems, renovating tourist places, and installing smart energy meters .
