Agartala: Dec 28: In response to the call from the State Committee of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a protest march was organized from Mela Maidan on Saturday, condemning the brutal police attacks on farmers protesting at the Haryana and Noida borders. The march aimed to demand the release of the farmers who were detained during the protests at Noida. The protesters later gathered at Paradise Choumuhani for a meeting, which was chaired by Rasbihari Ghosh, a leader of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. The meeting also saw the participation of Pabitra Kar, the convener of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha’s state committee, and other leaders.

A major focus of the gathering was the ongoing hunger strike by farmer leader Jagjit Singh Agrawal, which has now entered its 20th day. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha expressed concern over the deteriorating health of Agrawal, who has been on a fast demanding the fulfillment of farmers’ rights. This concern was shared by the leaders of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha from 21 states during a meeting last week. They issued a warning that if anything happens to Agrawal, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would be held responsible.

The meeting also decided that the Samyukt Kisan Morcha will intensify its protests across the country to demand the fulfillment of farmers' demands. The key demands include a discussion on farmers' issues in the Parliament, an end to the harassment of farmers, and the unconditional release of farmer leaders arrested during the Noida farmers' movement. The leaders vowed to continue their fight until their demands are met and the rights of farmers are recognized and upheld.
