Agartala: April 04: Basanti Puja, a significant festival for Hindus, especially Bengalis, was celebrated with great grandeur at the Durga Bari in Agartala this year, as it has been in previous years. This special form of Durga Puja, held in the month of Chaitra, is distinct from the more widely celebrated Durga Puja in Ashwin. The festival drew a large number of devotees, with Maha Saptami witnessing an impressive turnout at the Durga Bari mandap.
The rituals commenced with the Bodhon ceremony on Thursday, followed by Maha Ashtami, showcasing the deep religious fervor surrounding the festival. The puja at Durga Bari is conducted annually under a government initiative, ensuring smooth organization and community participation. The priest confirmed that the preparations were meticulous, with no shortcomings.
In addition to Durga Bari, Basanti Puja was also observed in various clubs across the state, coinciding with the Durga Puja of Ashwin month. These celebrations reflect the region's vibrant cultural traditions and the devotion of Agartala's people to Goddess Durga. This year's Basanti Puja stands as a testament to the community's enduring faith and the festival's cultural significance.
