Agartala: April 11: Late last night, the CPI(M) party office in the Sonai region of Sabroom was attacked by miscreants, who vandalized and set the building on fire. According to CPI(M) workers, members of the BJP were allegedly involved in the attack, which has triggered significant tension and unrest across the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that flames engulfed the party office around midnight. Concerned locals quickly informed the Manu Bazar fire brigade. Responding promptly, firefighters arrived with an engine and managed to bring the fire under control before it could spread further. Despite their efforts, the office suffered considerable damage, and the incident has left party workers and local residents shocked.

The CPI(M) has strongly condemned the incident, accusing political rivals of resorting to violence to intimidate opposition voices. The destruction of the office is being seen as a direct attack on democratic principles and the political freedom of the region’s people.

This morning, Sub-Divisional Committee member Deepak Dey visited the damaged office to assess the situation. Speaking to the media, he expressed deep concern over the growing political violence in the area. He demanded immediate action against the perpetrators and called on law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served.

“This is not just an attack on our party office—it is an attack on democracy,” Dey stated. “We demand a thorough investigation and immediate arrest of those responsible.”

The incident has intensified political tensions in Sabroom, with local leaders and residents urging authorities to maintain peace and prevent further unrest. Security in the area has since been tightened to prevent any retaliatory acts or escalation. As investigations begin, all eyes remain on the administration's response to this alarming act of political violence.
