Major Drug Bust in Teliamura: 60,000 Yaba Tablets Seized, Two Arrested

Agartala: April 12: In a joint anti-narcotics operation, the Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized a large consignment of yaba tablets in Teliamura, Tripura. Acting on specific intelligence, authorities intercepted a vehicle yesterday and recovered 60,000 yaba tablets, valued at approximately ₹6 crore in the international market. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.
In an official statement released today, Assam Rifles confirmed that the operation was carried out following a tip-off regarding narcotics being transported in a vehicle bearing registration number AS01AV1079. Surveillance was established in the targeted area, leading to the interception and seizure.
The two individuals arrested have been identified as Dilbar Hussain, a resident of Hailakandi, and Md. Zuber Ahmed, a resident of Karimganj, both from Assam. The arrested persons, along with the seized narcotics, have been handed over to the DRI for further legal action and investigation.
Authorities stated that this successful operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the Assam Rifles and DRI to curb drug trafficking in the region. Investigations are currently underway to determine the broader network involved in the smuggling of narcotics.
