Agartala: Jan 21: On the occasion of Tripura Statehood Day, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted the state's significant progress under the leadership of the BJP, announcing that Tripura's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is the second highest in the northeastern region. The Chief Minister emphasized the growing importance of the Northeast in contributing to India’s overall economic growth, particularly in enhancing the nation's GSDP in the future.
Speaking at the event held at the Agartala Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Dr. Saha credited the state’s development to the guidance and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He noted that Tripura has made substantial progress in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), advancing from a 'performer' to a 'front-runner' state in 2023-24. The Chief Minister acknowledged the central government’s assistance in addressing developmental challenges, particularly citing their support during the recent floods, which helped the state effectively manage the crisis.
Dr. Saha further lauded the state’s remarkable development in infrastructure, particularly national highways, railways, and communication networks, which he attributed to the implementation of the HIRA model (Highways, Internet, Railways, and Airways) under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He also referenced the Act East policy, which has focused on the development of the Northeast.
Additionally, the Chief Minister outlined key initiatives taken by the state government to boost socio-economic growth. These included the Tripura Industrial Development Policy, Tripura Start-up Policy, Unnati Prakalpa, IPAT, the Tripura Asset Management Policy, and the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, among others. He stressed that these programs aim to create a robust and inclusive development model for Tripura, empowering sectors such as industry, women’s welfare, and healthcare.
