Birth Anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Commemorated

  • Agartala: Sept 25: On Wednesday, the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was commemorated with a main event organized by the Department of Information and Culture at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan. The Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, attended as the chief guest and inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp. The event began with the Chief Minister and other guests offering floral tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s portrait.

In his address, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s contributions, noting that he was born on September 25, 1916. He mentioned that for many years, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s legacy was not widely known, but efforts have been made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to raise awareness about him. The Chief Minister emphasized Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy of Integral Humanism and his belief that government schemes should benefit the most disadvantaged members of society. He cited the recent ‘Su-shasan Abhiyan’ (Good Governance Campaign) as an example of efforts to ensure the success of central and state government schemes.

Dr. Saha also spoke about the importance of self-reliance for development, a principle advocated by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. He noted that the Northeast region has seen significant development due to peace and harmony, which he attributed to Prime Minister Modi’s efforts. The Chief Minister expressed concerns about the future relationship between Tripura and Bangladesh given the current situation in Bangladesh.

Other dignitaries at the event included PK Chakraborty, Secretary of the Department of Information and Culture; Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Chairman of the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Foundation; Subrata Chakraborty, Vice Chairman of the State-level Cultural Advisory Committee; and Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director of the Department of Information and Culture. Students from various schools and colleges also attended the event.
