CM declares puja bonanza for 9.83 lakh ration card holders

 Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday offered festival bonanza to 9.83 lakh ration cardholders as he announced providing two kg flour, one kg sugar and 500 gram semolina free of cost ahead of Durga puja.Earlier, the government used to give flour, sugar and semolina at subsidized rates but this time these food items will be distributed among the consumers free of cost.“In view of Durga puja, the government has decided to provide two kg flour, one kg sugar and 500 gram semolina to the people. This will be free of cost”, Saha wrote on Facebook.Food & Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhry while speaking to the reporters, said three food items used to be given to the people at subsidized rate before Durga puja but this is for the first time the government is giving these food items free of cost.“The government needs to spend Rs. 6.84 crore to provide three food items free of cost before Durga puja. The consumers will start receiving food items at fair price shops from the first week of October”, he said.Chowdhury said the Food & Civil Supplies department is set to roll out PVC ration cards replacing old paper made ration cards from September 30
