Governor Highlights Sustainable Agriculture at National Conference

Agartala: Sept 26:  Governor Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu underscored the significance of integrating modern technology into agriculture to boost crop production while preserving ecological balance. His remarks came during the inauguration of a national-level conference on climate-resilient agriculture and plant health at the Agricultural University in Lembuchera. The event was jointly organized by the Agricultural University, the Indian Phytopathological Society, and the West Bengal Academy for Advancement of Agricultural Science.

Governor Nallu emphasized the critical role of agriculture in India’s economy and society. He highlighted the central government’s initiatives under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, aimed at enhancing the welfare of agriculture and farmers. The Governor advocated for the adoption of advanced agricultural practices and technologies, such as drones, artificial intelligence, and robots, to manage pests and diseases while maintaining soil fertility. He also called for more frequent agricultural training for farmers and encouraged the cultivation of spices and turmeric in the state.

Governor Nallu stressed the importance of agricultural science centers maintaining regular contact with farmers to disseminate new agricultural methods. He noted that agriculture is integral to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making India a developed country by 2047. Additionally, he pointed out the profitability of animal husbandry for the northeastern states, including Tripura.

The conference also recognized distinguished agricultural scientists and researchers from various institutions across the country for their contributions to the field.
