BJP appoints returning officer for organizational elections

Senior BJP leader Samarandra Chandra Deb has been appointed as returning officer for conducing organizational elections to the Tripura state unit, a party leader said on Monday.Bipin Debbarma, one of the state general secretaries and Smt. Malina Debnath, an MLA have been appointed as the co-returning officers for the elections.“Samarendra Chandrda Deb has been appointed as the returning officer of BJP’s state unit organizational election and two of his deputies are Bipin Debbarma and MLA Malina Debnath. They were appointed by party’s national returning officer, K. Laxman”, party state president, Rajib Bhattacharje said.Bhattacharjee, who is in Delhi to attend a high level meeting on the organizational elections, the election schedule for the state unit is likely to be finalized in the meeting scheduled to be held later in evening.Sunit Sarkar, state’s media in-charge on Monday said the party has fully geared up for the membership drive as well as holding organizational elections right from booth to state level.“Newly appointed returning officer and his two deputies will hold meeting shortly to prepare a schedule for the organizational election from the booth level. In the BJP, only active members who have managed to enroll at least 50 general members are eligible to get elected as presidents of booth, mandal, district and state levels”, he said
