Agartala: Oct 22: Tipra Motha party workers have staged a protest at Bisramganj police station against an alleged attack on a party worker in Charilam bazaar. On the other hand, the BJP has submitted a deputation at Bishalgarh police station.

Former Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Jishnu Debbarma's son, Pratik Kishore Debbarma, has alleged that Zakir Hossain, a Tipra Motha worker and lawyer, attacked BJP worker Chandrajit Debnath with a firearm in Charilam bazaar on Monday night. Demanding the arrest of Zakir Hossain, BJP workers led by Charilam Mandal President Rajkumar Debnath and local residents besieged Bishalgarh police station on Tuesday afternoon. Additional District Superintendent of Police Rajib Sutradhar and the police station officer Sanjit Sen were present at the police station.

BJP workers claimed that the accused lawyer, Zakir Hossain, who is a member of the Tipra Motha party, has been repeatedly attacking BJP workers in the Charilam bazaar area, identifying and looting their shops. They alleged that Zakir Hossain, who had previously decimated the Congress party and was involved in various cases including theft, joined the Tipra Motha party through the minority cell chairman Shah Alam to escape legal troubles and has started creating havoc in the entire Charilam assembly constituency.

Not only that, Pratik Kishore Debbarma, the son of former MLA and ex-Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Jishnu Debbarma, has appealed to the people of the state through the media not to politicize the issue. He said that the accused Zakir Hossain has been involved in such incidents before. On Monday, he tried to create a disturbed environment in Charilam bazaar by involving people from different communities in such acts of violence. This is in Zakir Hossain's DNA. He demanded his immediate arrest and punishment.

On the other hand, the Tipra Motha has counter-alleged against the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders. They have filed a complaint against Rajkumar Debnath, the Mandal President of the Charilam assembly constituency, at Bisramganj police station. They stated that Shahidul Islam was on his way from Agartala to Bisramganj when he was attacked by Dip Rana, Dipesh Shil, Rajesh Debnath, Sukhen Debnath, Tukai, and several other hooligans associated with Rajkumar Debnath, the Mandal President of Charilam assembly constituency. They allegedly robbed Shahidul Islam of Rs. 28,000 in cash and a gold chain weighing one bhari and then fled the scene. Tipra Motha workers reached the spot after getting the news. But today, Rajkumar held a press conference and claimed that Zakir Hossain had attacked a shop. However, Rajkumar Debnath himself is an accused in a murder case. Before the 2023 assembly elections, he killed Shahid Mia in Charilam. Moreover, he is involved in all the gambling and drug mafia activities in Charilam. Addressing the state BJP president Rajiv Bhattacharya, he asked how such a person could be made the Mandal president of the BJP, the world's largest party. He has been trying to disrupt the peaceful environment of Charilam for a long time. He demanded that he be instructed by the party to refrain from such criminal activities.
