Law and order situation in state normal, claims CM Manik Saha

Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday asserted the prevailing law and order situation in the northeastern state is normal with the law enforcement agencies taking steps against the crime.The Chief Minister’s assertion came days after death of a tribal man due custodial torture by police, murder of a shopkeeper in Agartala and communal tension in Kadamtala and Panisgar in North Tripura district.“Security to the people tops the government’s agenda. Many people say many things but the law and order situation in the state is normal according to the crime graph. Incident does take place but the police are also taking action as per the law”, he told the reporters.Saha who joined the party’s membership drive in his home constituency- Town Bardowali said the government will augment if there is any loopholes on the party of the intelligence wing of the police.“The party’s ongoing membership drive has received massive response among the people. Around 6 lakh people have already enrolled their names as member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the northeastern state while target is 12 lakh. Over 13,000 people have registered their names with the BJP in my constituency”, he said.He said the party has initiated process to carry on membership drive on off-line mode due to lack of facility for on-line registration of membership especially in rural areas where the people either don’t have mobile phone or internet facility
