HDFC Scam: Police Constable arrested

Agartala: Feb 26: Radha Kishorepur Police Constable Jayanta Saha has been arrested for his alleged involvement in an 82 lakh rupee scam at the Udaipur HDFC Bank. He was taken into custody by Udaipur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirman Das around 11 pm from the Udaipur Police Line. Saha has been accused of embezzling money from a customer's account.

The accused constable was produced in the Udaipur court under the Radha Kishorepur police station, with the police seeking a three-day remand. This development comes amid demands from customers for the recovery of the embezzled funds and strict action against Saha.

It's worth noting that bank frauds have been a significant concern in India, with the Reserve Bank of India reporting over 45,613 occurrences of loan theft in 2020-21, amounting to Rs 1.37 lakh crore .
