Two arrested in connection with Gobindapur robbery case

Agartala: Feb 27: On February 22nd, a robbery occurred in Gobindapur under Churaibari police station, where a family was held at gunpoint and robbed of their valuables. Following an investigation, the police arrested two individuals late on Wednesday night.

 

According to the incident report, around 3:15 am, a group of robbers disguised as paramilitary forces entered the home of Sadhan Dev, a resident of ward number 3 of Gobindapur gram panchayat. The robbers, armed with two guns, a scythe, and a sabre, had their faces covered with black cloth. They held guns at the heads of Sadhan Dev and his son Sagar Dev, and stole 73,000 taka in cash, a significant amount of gold jewelry, an Android mobile phone, and other valuables before fleeing.

 

Upon receiving news of the incident, officers from Churaibari police station, along with Dharmanagar Subdistrict Police Officer B. Zarin Puiya, Additional Superintendent of Police Jeremiah Darlong, Superintendent of Police IPS Avinash Rai, and Bagbasa Assembly MLA Jadavlal Nath, arrived at the scene. Fingerprint experts were also called in to assist. Four days after the robbery, the police successfully arrested two suspects involved in the case. However, the firearms and other weapons used in the robbery, as well as the stolen money and gold jewelry, have not yet been recovered. The investigating officer for this case is Sub-Inspector Pritimoy Chakma.

 

Churaibari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khokon Saha mentioned that the mobile locations of the two arrested individuals placed them in the Gobindapur area on the night of the robbery. The suspects, identified as Kabil Hossain and Jamir Uddin, residents of ward number six of Dakshin Kadamtala Gram Panchayat under Kadamtala Police Station, were arrested around 2 am on Wednesday. They attempted to escape through a window when they became aware of the police raid but were apprehended. The two suspects are currently being interrogated in the custody of Churaibari Police Station and will be produced before the Dharmanagar District and Sessions Court on Friday for police remand, according to Officer-in-Charge Saha.
