62nd Foundation Day of the Home Guard and Civil Defence Force celebrated

Agartala: Dec 06: The 62nd Foundation Day of the Home Guard and Civil Defence Force was celebrated with a grand march past at the Monoranjan Debbarma Smriti Police Parade Ground, attended by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Santwana Chakma, as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, the Minister emphasized the importance of unity and mutual cooperation to maintain peace, harmony, and stability in the country. She urged everyone to work together to ensure the nation's progress, highlighting that unity is essential for a brighter future.
Minister Chakma further stressed the need for collective efforts in disaster management. She led the gathering in reciting the oath of preparedness, underscoring the significance of being ready for any unforeseen circumstances. The march past saw active participation from two platoons of the State Disaster Response Force, two platoons of the Home Guard, one platoon of the Fire Service, and one platoon of the Civil Defence Force, along with three bands, demonstrating the strength and readiness of the forces.
The Minister also spoke about the state government’s initiatives to combat the growing issue of drug abuse among the youth. She called on clubs, NGOs, and ordinary citizens to come forward and take responsibility in helping the youth stay away from drugs, stressing the importance of community involvement in the fight against this menace.
The welcome speech was delivered by L Darling, the IGP (Crime and Intelligence) of the Police Force. He praised the Home Guard’s critical role in maintaining security across various police stations and key locations in the state. He acknowledged their invaluable contribution in combating extremism, reinforcing the importance of their dedication and service to the state's security.
