CM sets target to bring 20 lakh people under cooperative movement

Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday set a target to bring 20 or 30 lakh people into cooperative societies to boost the socio-economic condition of the northeastern state.The northeastern state has around 40-lakh population.Addressing a programme- promotion and development of cooperatives in Tripura at Rabindra Bhavan, the Chief Minister said only 9/10 lakh people were directly or indirectly involved in the cooperative movement.“It means a substantial number of people of the state are not involved in the cooperative. The Cooperative department shall set a target of bringing 20/30 lakh people under the ambit of cooperatives. If we can do this, the socio economic condition of the state will be better”, he said.Claiming that the cooperative movement got vibrant after Union Home Minister, Amit Saha took charge of the Cooperative Ministry, Saha said, “If cooperatives are being promoted, the race for the jobs in government sector will be minimized. The job seeker will transform themselves as job providers. The cooperatives may appear as handy to check corrupt practice
