Agartala: Feb 04: The CPI(M) Sadar subdivision committee organized a protest march in Agartala against the BJP coalition government's budget, which they deemed corporate-friendly and deceptive. The protest started at the fairground, passed through various city roads, and culminated in a meeting at Paradise Chowmuhani, where speakers strongly condemned the central government's budget .
A left-wing leader criticized the BJP government for playing "politics of surprise" with the budget, alleging that it neglected Tripura's development and deprived the state of its fair share from the Northeast allocation. The leader argued that the budget would exacerbate misery for both rural and urban populations.
This protest echoes the CPI's nationwide criticism of the Union Budget 2025, which they claim ignores pressing economic challenges, such as rising unemployment, inflation, and increasing inequality . The CPI(M) has also condemned the budget for favoring the wealthy and corporate sectors while neglecting the welfare of marginalized communities.
