Visa services finally resumed in Tripura

Agartala: Feb 05: After a long hiatus of two months and two days, visa services have finally resumed in Tripura. The resumption has brought relief to many people who gathered in front of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala early this morning, hoping to secure a visa.
The suspension of visa services had been a result of escalating tensions between India and Bangladesh following incidents of violence in the region. It all began after the fall of the Hasina government in Bangladesh, when the caretaker government led by Dr. Yunus came into power. During this time, there was a notable rise in the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. The situation worsened when Sanatan preacher Chinmoy Krishna Brahmachari was arrested, which led to widespread protests in Agartala, calling for an end to the religious persecution. These protests, which included processions and demonstrations, escalated on December 3, when a protest in front of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission turned violent. In response to the unrest, the Bangladesh government halted visa issuance and recalled all the officials from the Assistant Commission.
The resumption of visa services today has brought joy to many, with hopes that there will be no further disruptions in obtaining visas. For the people of Tripura, this is seen as a positive development, signaling a return to normalcy in the relationship between the two neighboring countries. They are optimistic that the process will now proceed smoothly, facilitating easier travel and communication between the two nations.
