80 students of Navodaya Vidyalaya fell ill after consuming food from the school canteen

Agartala: Jan 28: Around 80 students of Takarjala Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Sipahijala district fell seriously ill after consuming food from the school canteen, with food poisoning being suspected as the cause. The District Magistrate of Sipahijala, Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Jamujala quickly arrived at the scene. The affected students were immediately taken to the Takarjala Community Health Center for treatment.
Upon inspecting the school canteen, District Magistrate Jaiswal found multiple issues, including improperly stored food, expired spices, and unhygienic practices. He ordered the removal and disposal of these items to prevent further harm. Additionally, he issued a show-cause notice to the canteen in-charge, holding them accountable for the poor food quality and unsafe conditions.
Jaiswal also visited the Takarjala Community Health Center to check on the health status of the students. He spoke with the doctors and stressed the importance of maintaining hygiene in food preparation. He instructed the school administration to ensure that meals are provided in a clean and safe environment moving forward.
The incident caused significant concern among the students' parents, who rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news. The authorities are now focusing on preventing such occurrences in the future by taking necessary actions to improve the canteen's food safety standards and ensuring better oversight.
