Assam State Day Celebration at Raj Bhavan

Agartala: Dec 02: A low-key event was organized at Raj Bhavan in Agartala today to celebrate Assam State Day. Governor Indrajit Sena Reddy inaugurated the event and stated that the celebration of foundation days of different states reflects the Prime Minister's vision of 'One Nation, One India'. He extended his greetings to the people of Assam on this special occasion.

 

The Governor mentioned that this was his second time attending the Assam State Day celebration since assuming office as the Governor of Tripura. He highlighted Assam as a significant state, renowned nationally and internationally for its rich biodiversity, archaeological sites, tea gardens, and industries. The Governor also emphasized Assam's rich culture, heritage, and the significant contribution of Maharaja Chaolung Sukapha in establishing the state in the 12th century.

 

He described Assam as the gateway to Northeast India's trade. He expressed hope that the cultural and prosperous relationship between Assam and other Northeastern states would strengthen further in the future. The Governor expressed confidence that Assam's contribution to India's growth trajectory would continue to increase and the state would progress towards greater prosperity.

 

A message from the Governor of Assam, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, was also broadcast on the occasion of Assam State Day. The Governor felicitated 16 individuals of Assamese origin working in various professions like teaching, medicine, etc., in the state with a shawl and a token of appreciation. Dr. Sindhu Podial, a professor at Tripura University, and Dr. Priyanshu Ranjan Barooah, Dean of Tripura Eklavya University, delivered speeches highlighting the historical context of Assam's establishment and its rich culture and heritage. The Governor's Secretary, U.K Chakma, delivered the welcome address at the event.
