Agartala, November 30, 2024: ILS Hospital in Agartala has decided to stop providing medical services to Bangladeshi patients, effective Sunday. This decision comes in the wake of growing anti-India sentiments following an incident where a group of Bangladeshi citizens reportedly burned the Indian national flag to express their hostility. The incident has sparked widespread protests across India, including Tripura, and has deeply hurt national sentiments.
On Saturday, a group of local protestors gathered outside ILS Hospital in Agartala, demanding that the hospital stop treating Bangladeshi patients. The protestors entered the hospital premises and raised slogans against Bangladesh. In response to the situation and to avoid further unrest, the hospital management decided to halt medical services for patients from Bangladesh until the situation calms down.
The hospital authorities stated that the current situation in Bangladesh, particularly the disrespect shown to the Indian national flag, has led to widespread anger across the country. They emphasized that the decision to suspend treatment for Bangladeshi patients was made in support of Indian national sentiments and to express solidarity with the public's outrage over the flag incident. The hospital also acknowledged the sensitive political climate and confirmed that no treatment will be provided to Bangladeshi nationals for the time being, given the national emotional response to recent events.
