Agartala: Dec 02:  Tripura's Agriculture Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, addressed a meeting at the Secretariat, emphasizing the state government's ongoing efforts to improve the economic condition of farmers. The meeting, held in the video conference hall of the Secretariat, focused on reviewing key issues and preparations related to the procurement of paddy from the Kharif season. The meeting was attended by Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of various Panchayat Samitis, district magistrates, BDOs, and officials from the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, as well as the Food Department.

Minister Nath stated that the procurement of paddy at the minimum support price (MSP) was a central topic of discussion. The government is committed to ensuring that farmers receive a fair price for their produce, which is expected to have a positive impact on their livelihoods. He highlighted that the government’s farmer-friendly policies, including the MSP, are aimed at improving the economic situation of the state’s farmers.

Minister Nath expressed confidence that these initiatives would create a supportive environment for farmers, helping them secure better financial stability. He further assured that the government is focused on addressing the challenges faced by farmers in the state and will continue to introduce measures that benefit the agricultural community.

The meeting served as an important step towards ensuring that the farmers of Tripura are adequately supported in terms of procurement, fair pricing, and overall welfare, marking a key move by the state government to enhance the agricultural sector's contribution to the state's economy.
