Agartala: Dec 03: The Tripura Tourism Promo Fest 2024 was inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at Narikalkunj in the Gandachua sub-division of Dhalai district today. This initiative aims to promote the state's tourism on a global scale and further highlight Tripura's rich cultural heritage. The Chief Minister emphasized that such events would not only enhance tourism but also make the state more attractive to visitors, offering a unique opportunity to showcase indigenous traditions, food, and music.

On the same day, Prof. Saha inaugurated a newly constructed suspension bridge over the Dumbur reservoir and handed over registration certificates to nine private entrepreneurs who have set up home stays in Narikalkunj. This marks the first-ever tourism promo fest organized by the state’s Tourism Department. The event features traditional music, costumes, and food festivals, with a special performance by renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal scheduled for December 14th.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government's commitment to boosting employment and GDP through tourism, with several infrastructure projects underway. He mentioned the construction of log huts in Narikalkunj, including 10 under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, bringing the total to 51 such huts across the state. These developments are expected to support tourism growth and improve the state's infrastructure.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also addressed the gathering, noting that tourism is a key driver for economic growth in the state. Several other tourist destinations, such as Banduwar, Chabimura, Dumbur, Neermahal, Unakoti, and Jampui, are also being enhanced to attract more visitors.

The fest will run until December 14th, with the grand finale at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala. The inaugural ceremony featured various cultural performances and stalls, and the Chief Minister presented awards to the winners of the boat race.
