e first ever initiative by DEE Puppetry Workshop in Line with NEP-2020

Agartala: August 16: The Pre-primary Cell under the Directorate of Elementary Education again stepped forward for another innovative initiative aiming quality education of FLN grades. Pre-primary cell is the first to organise a 2-day Puppetry workshop involving the CCRT trained teachers as resource persons. In this workshop the pre-primary teachers, FLN teachers and academic leaders are going to be trained on making different types of puppets and using them in classroom transactions. The theme of the workshop is “Role of Puppetry in Education in line with NEP-2020”. After CCRT training in central level this is the first time in the state to organise such workshop on puppetry involving such a wide number of teachers as well as BRPs. The programme is organised in the Shishu Bihar H.S. School Auditorium for two days. A total of 100 perticipants from West, Sepahijala, Khowai and Gomati attended the workshop. In the inaugural session the programme was graced by the presence of Director, School Education Sri N.C. Sharma, Joint Director of Elementary Education Smt Harshita Biswas, DEO West, Sri Rupan Roy and Branch Officer of Pre-primary cell cum NIPUN Tripura Cell Sri Abhijit Samajpati. 
Director N.C. Sharma interacted with the participants one on one and encouraged them to share their experiences about using Puppets as well as TLMs in classroom scenario. He also listened about various problems that teachers face during teaching-learning process and made the solutions available to them. Apart from these he also discussed about the lakshyas of NIPUN. Director in his words mentioned that frequent school visits are most essential to implement the various projects on field level. He ensured that in coming day’s school visits will be done frequently, as well as such kind of workshops or training programmes will also be oreganised as and when required. 
Joint Director Harshita Biswas discussed about how these Puppets could be helpful to the children to build their imagination capacity as well as developing command over content. 
DEO West, Rupan Roy in his words mentioned that pupperty was an ancient chapter of Indian culture since long back. Now with the blessings of NEP-2020, where emphasis is given on the use of various TLMs, puppetry again received a platform to play its role in child friendly education also. This puppetry could be the most interesting type of teaching learning material. It could be helpful to represent the curricular content in a realistic way in front of the growing kids. 
Branch Officer of Pre-primary Cell, Abhijit Samajpati emphasizes on accountability and punctuality of teachers as well as BRP’s towards their profession. He urged for the must use of puppetry during teaching-learning process, when teachers will go back to school after completion of the 2-days workshop.  BRPs should also ensure that all schools they used to visit are using puppets as TLMs and if required they must assist the teachers regarding preparation and use of puppets. 
During these 2-days of workshop participants will receive hands on training regarding preparation of various types of puppets as well as the use of these puppets synchronizing with the curriculum. Undoubtedly with this first ever training of teachers on puppetry use of puppets in classroom teaching will enhance in the schools and so it could be concluded as proper justification of CCRT Training.
