Five human traffickers arrested from Madhurpur, over 100 infilrators arrested in five months

Five suspected human traffickers were arrested from Sepahijala district’s Madhupur area in connection with two specific human trafficking cases, police said on Monday.The arrested human traffickers identified as Jayanta Das, Samir Das, Jakir Hussain, Mobin Miah and Gourchand Debnath- all residents of Harihardola locality were sent to three-day police remand after being produced before a local court.“Based on credible inputs, a joint team of GRP, BSF and intelligence agencies carried out a raid at Harihardola area on Sunday night and arrested five human traffickers. They are wanted in two separate human trafficking cases”, Officer in Charge (OC), Agartala GRP police station, Tapas Das said.He stated during preliminary investigation arrested human traffickers revealed more names who are involved in the gang who are helping Bangladesh citizens to cross over international border and go outside the state.“The five arrested who were produced before a local court on Monday, were granted three-day police remand for interrogation to get more inputs”, he said.According to Das, as many as 108 foreign nationals were arrested at Agartala railway station from August 1 to December 31. Out of whom, 98 are Bangladesh nationals and remaining ten are Rohingyas. A total of 30 human traffickers were arrested in connection with 29 specific cases registered during the period
