Power Minister inaugurates registration camp for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijili Ghar

The Tripura government has initiated a special drive to draw maximum benefit from the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijili Ghar yajana.The scheme was designed to transform the energy industry by deploying solar panels on the rooftops of homes belonging to middle-class and low-income citizens.As part of the initiative, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) on Monday organized a mega registration camp for enrolling interested individuals to register their names under the scheme.Power Minister Ratal Lal Nath who inaugurated the mega registration camp said the government wants to draw maximum benefit out of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijili Ghar yajana.“If any individual wants to set up I KW power plant at home, he or she will get a subsidy of Rs. 33,000 out of total cost of Rs. 70,000. For 2 KW and 3 KW the subsidy will be double (Rs. 66,000) and Rs. 88,000 respectively”, he told the reporters.Nath said the government has asked the banks to help prospective individuals with low interest rate in setting up solar power panels on rooftops.“Normally, the banks charge a minimum 11 percent interest on loan money but in case of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijili Ghar yajana, the financial institutions will take only 7 percent interest”, he said.“We want to draw maximum benefit out of the scheme by promoting solar power. The government has set a target to top the list of successful state in the northeastern stateas as far as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijili Ghar yajana is concerned”, he said.Nath added the special registration camp for scheme will be organized acors the state to reach out to the people.“Representatives of urban local bodies and civic bodies will also join the campaign for the scheme”, he added
