Agartala: Jan 05: The Tripura state government's initiative to procure paddy from farmers at a supported price was inaugurated by Balai Goswami, the Chairman of the West Tripura District Council, at the Bamutia Binodini School premises in the Bamutia block. This program aims to support farmers by ensuring they receive a fair price for their paddy.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Deputy Chief Minister of Mohanpur subdivision, BDO of Bamutia block Amitabh Bhattacharya, Panchayat Samiti Chairman Deepak Kumar Singh, State Secretary of the Kisan Morcha Prachiti Bhowmik, and Bamutia Mandal President Shivendra Das. Officials from the Agriculture and Food Department and local farmers were also present.

During the program, Bamutia Mandal President Shivendra Das appealed to the government to facilitate the distribution of improved seeds, which are currently available in private shops, to farmers through official government channels. This request aimed to ensure farmers have access to high-quality seeds at reasonable prices.

In his speech, Balai Goswami emphasized the importance of increasing paddy cultivation in the region. He encouraged local farmers to step up their involvement in agriculture and highlighted the government's efforts to support them through initiatives like the paddy procurement program. Goswami expressed his commitment to enhancing the agricultural sector and ensuring that farmers receive the necessary resources and support to improve their livelihoods.
