Agartala: Jan 07: Uttam Banik, a businessman from the Shanti Para area of Agartala, is facing significant hurdles in starting his business despite having legally purchased a shop. He has accused local mafia groups, operating under the guise of a club, of threatening him and preventing him from opening the shop.

On December 11, Uttam Banik legally bought a shop from two local individuals in the Shanti Para area, located in the 8th Town Bardowali constituency. However, despite nearly a month passing, he has been unable to open the shop due to ongoing threats. Banik claims that members of a local club have repeatedly obstructed his attempts to start his business, issuing threats and warnings to not open the shop.

He further explained that when he initially purchased the shop from a local person and registered the property, there were no objections. However, now he is being pressured by certain individuals to sell the shop to them, allegedly to sell it to anti-social elements.

In light of these events, Uttam Banik and his family have appealed to the Chief Minister of the state, Dr. Manik Saha, who is also the local MLA, to intervene and take action against these individuals. They have requested that the authorities take appropriate measures to address the situation and ensure their safety, as well as to allow the businessman to start his legitimate venture.
