GB Hospital's Neurology department offering complex treatments and surgeries

Agartala: Dec 05: GB Hospital's Neurology department has made significant strides, offering complex treatments and surgeries. Neurosurgeon Dr. Sidharth Reddy highlighted these advancements, including 400 successful angiographies and 26-28 coiling procedures in the past year ¹. These services are available through the Ayushman Kadir scheme, ensuring wider access to necessary care.

However, the hospital faces challenges in managing its ICU capacity. Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty acknowledged a shortage of ICU beds, impacting patient care. Efforts are being made to address the shortage by December, but long-term solutions are still being explored .

To address the ICU capacity challenges, the hospital plans to increase its ICU beds from 58 to 112 ². This expansion will help accommodate the growing number of patients requiring intensive care.

Despite these challenges, GB Hospital continues to make progress in its specialized treatments, improving overall healthcare services.
