Mentally ill man climbs tower, trigger panic

Chaos hit wateling para under Kalyanpur Police Station after a mentally challenged man climbed a 150-feet long mobile phone tower early on Friday morning. The incident stirred panic among the locals amid safety concerns. A team of fire brigade officials swung into action and brought him down after hours of effort.Locals claimed that the fire brigade station was informed shortly after locals noticed the youth identified asĀ  Hriday Sarkar, Shantipur village, climbing up the tower. A team of police and the fire brigade rushed to the spot immediately but the rescue operation turned out to be extremely difficult.The youth who refused to follow the instructions of the police and fire brigade officials. The officials initially tried to convince him to come down voluntarily. On being failed, the fire department officials brought the equipment and hydraulic stairs for safe rescue of the youth.Sarkar finally responded to the repeated appeals of the fire brigade and police troopers and voluntarily came down towards them helping them to rescue him safely.After the rescue operation, police and fire brigade officials appealed to the public to be cautious about such problems and asked the parents of the youth to be careful about his movements.
