Pithe Puli Utsav celebrates

Agartala: Jan 16: Minister Tinku Roy inaugurated the Pithe Puli Festival 2025 at Jarultali village in Agartala, marking a significant milestone for the Chandipur block. This three-day festival celebrates the rich cultural and culinary heritage of the region, showcasing traditional sweet delicacies like pithe-puli.
The event was attended by prominent guests, including Unakoti District Council Chairperson Amolendu Das and Chandipur BDO Prosenjit Malakar. Self-help groups participated actively, setting up stalls to display their homemade products.
During the inauguration, Minister Roy distributed mini power tillers, sprayers, and other agricultural tools to local farmers. He also honored national-level kho-kho players and their coaches, and provided loan approval letters and cheques to self-help group members.
In his speech, Minister Roy emphasized the importance of preserving the region's culture and traditions. He highlighted the financial success of self-help group members, with 91,000 members in the state earning over one lakh annually.
The festival features rural games and cultural performances, celebrating the region's culture and economic achievements. The organizers hope to make this initiative even larger in the future. Interestingly, this festival is part of the larger Poush Parbon celebrations, which commemorate Bengal's harvest festival with traditional sweets and festivities ยน.
