Tourism Minister holds meeting, amusement park to come up at Jirania

Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday chaired a high level review meeting pertaining to the proposed amusement project which is set to come up at Sachindra Nagar Colony Agartala.The proposed amusement park cum eco park is heavily inspired from the famed Nicco park of Agartala. A couple months back, officials from Kolkata visited the location where the park is set to come up. A whopping budget of Rs 50 crore had been sanctioned for the project under Swadesh Darshan scheme 2.0.“The Central Government has already approved the development of this eco-park, which will be built with modern amenities and focus on promoting eco-tourism in the region. The park will be constructed by the Tourism Department, and work is expected to begin shortly,” a social media post of the Tourism Minister reads.According to the Minister, an amusement park will be an integral part of the proposed tourism project.“An advanced amusement park modelled after Kolkata’s Nicco Park is also going to be an integral part of the proposed eco-park at Sachindra Nagar Colony. In preparation for this, a final-stage meeting was held at the Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office. The meeting was attended by officials from the Tourism Department, the SDM of Jirania, prominent local public representatives, and administrative officers. The land donors for the proposed site also participated in the discussions,” his post in Bengali roughly translates to.The Minister reiterated his commitment to boost tourism infrastructure in Tripura. He said that this project is set to generate huge employment opportunities for the people of the area.
