Agartala: Dec 06: On Friday, the Tripura Adhikar Sangram Parishad raised urgent concerns regarding the victims of the Rani Bazar Kaitrabari incident, demanding government assistance. The West Tripura district committee of the organization submitted a deputation to the District Magistrate at the West Tripura District Magistrate's office.
Debendra Singh, a leader of the organization, addressed the media, presenting four key demands. He pointed out that nearly four months had passed since the attack, looting, and arson incident in Rani Bazar Kaitrabari, yet the affected families continue to suffer. These families are still residing in temporary shelters with their young children, and the administration has ceased providing food supplies, leaving 20-22 families in an acute crisis. Despite police deployment immediately following the incident on August 25, the temporary police camp has now been removed, leaving the families not only in extreme scarcity but also in a state of insecurity.
The Tripura Adhikar Sangram Parishad is demanding that the government take immediate action to rebuild the homes of the minority families who were affected by the communal violence. They have called for financial assistance of at least Rs. 10 lakh for each affected family to help them recover and rebuild their lives. The organization stressed that the state is responsible for protecting the lives and property of its citizens. Given that the entire incident occurred in the presence of police and security forces, the administration cannot avoid its responsibility.
The Tripura Adhikar Sangram Parishad has called on the administration to address these demands promptly and provide the necessary support to the affected citizens of Kaitrabari. The organization emphasizes that the state must fulfill its duty to safeguard its citizens and ensure their well-being in times of crisis.
