Tripura to launch 15-day long campaign on agriculture

Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday attended a virtual meeting chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ahead of a 15-day long national drive named after “Viksit Bharat Krishi Abhiyan”. Nath said under the campaign farmers of all Panchayats of the state would be made aware of the central and state sponsored schemes for the welfare farmers.“The campaign will be launched on May 29 and it will continue till June 12. We have plans to touch all the Panchayats across the state. Several key issues such as agricultural production, asset management, income enhancement etc. will be the centre of focus in the campaign. The main agenda is to make sure that food grains production must increase and input cost of farmers must reduce so that the profit margin of farmers improves substantially.” According to Nath, India has achieved record agricultural production in the state. “The outreach scheme shall be communicated to small and marginal farmers. Experts from KVK and ICAR have been roped in for imparting training to farmers on issues like rational use of fertilisers, use of technology and gadgets for enhancing production,” he said.According to Nath, all departments like Fishery, Agriculture, Horticulture have been involved in the outreach campaign. “The Union Minister said that India wants to become the global leader in food grain and agricultural production,” said Nath.  District and State level coordination teams had been constituted to supervise the campaign.
