Two drug peddlers arrested with heroin at Dharmanagar

Two persons were arrested from North Tripura’s Dharmanagar area while they were smuggling heroin worth Rs. 2 crore, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.Based on specific inputs, a police team laid ambush at Dharmanagar and detained one number-less jeep coming from Damcherra, adjacent to Mizoram on Wednesday.“During search, more than 200 gram of heroin concealed in a secret chamber of the vehicle, was recovered by the police. Two persons namely- Javed Ali and Joydul Hussain of Boxanagar in Sepahijala district were also arrested for smuggling heroin”, Superintendent of Police (SP), North district, Bhanupada Chakraborty told the reporters.He said the consignment was coming from Myanmar through Mizoram border to Tripura’s Sepahijala district.  “We have lodged a specific FIR and investigation gets underway to know the root of the drug racket active in the northeastern state (Tripura). The arrested persons will be produced before court seeking police remand for interrogation”, he said
