Agartala: Oct 08: A Bangladeshi individual was killed in BSF firing while attempting to smuggle drugs across the border, according to a statement issued by the BSF today.

The statement detailed that a large group of Bangladeshi individuals, armed with sharp weapons, attempted to smuggle drugs in the Salpokhar area of the Border Outpost in Sipahijala district. When BSF personnel tried to stop them, the group attacked, resulting in one BSF jawan being seriously injured. The attackers also attempted to snatch a rifle, prompting the BSF to fire two rounds in self-defense, causing the group to flee.

During a subsequent search, the body of Kamal Hossain, a resident of Bangladesh, was found approximately 30 meters inside Indian territory. An FIR has been lodged with Yatrapur police station for further legal action.

A Sector Commander-level meeting was held with the BGB today, where the BSF strongly protested against the attack and the illegal activities carried out by Bangladeshi individuals inside Indian territory.
