Agartala Government Dental College Celebrates Second Anniversary

Agartala: Dec 18: A ceremony was held at Agartala Town Hall on Wednesday to mark the second anniversary of the Agartala Government Dental College. The Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, the Chief Minister praised the students of the Dental College and highlighted that there had been no incidents of ragging at the college so far. He urged the students to ensure that ragging culture does not take root at the institution and called on the principal, professors, and staff to remain present at the college as much as possible to maintain discipline.

The Chief Minister also assured that efforts would be made to explore the possibility of creating new positions within the college. He further mentioned that discussions were underway to start procedures like embryo and liver transplants in Tripura, with talks being held with medical professionals for the same. Dr. Saha also stated that the government was in discussions with an organization to set up a super-specialty hospital in the state. The hospital will be established with an investment of 700 crore rupees, and a location has already been identified for it. Additionally, efforts were underway to establish another high-quality hospital offering a range of advanced medical services, with eight organizations in India expressing interest in setting up similar facilities in the state.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the government's focus on improving healthcare services in Tripura. He mentioned that kidney transplant surgeries had already been successfully carried out at Agartala Government Medical College, with no financial burden on the patients' families. The government aims to ensure that, if necessary, the infrastructure for these procedures will be upgraded. Dr. Saha concluded by saying that efforts to strengthen district hospitals to reduce pressure on GB Hospital were also underway.

Several students from the Agartala Government Dental College were honored at the event for their perfect attendance. The ceremony was also attended by the Director of Health Services, Dr. Sanjeeb Debbarma, and the principal of the Dental College.
