Union Home Minister Amit Shah Arrives in Tripura for NEC Plenary Session

Agartala: Dec 20: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has arrived in Tripura to preside over the 72nd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC). He was warmly welcomed at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala by Tripura's Chief Minister, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, MPs Biplab Kumar Deb, Rajib Bhattacharya (BJP state president), MP Maharani Kriti Devi Singh, and the Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr. Sukanta Majumdar.
The NEC meeting, scheduled for tomorrow, will address various developmental issues concerning the northeastern states. This is the first such meeting to be held in Tripura since the formation of the BJP-led government in the state. Along with Amit Shah, other dignitaries including Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, five governors, and three chief ministers have arrived to attend the session.
The meeting will be attended by key figures from various northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen. K.K. Tripathi, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Manipur Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Nagaland Governor La Ganesan, Sikkim Governor Om Prakash, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, and Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who landed in Agartala alongside Governor Lt. Gen. K.K. Tripathi, highlighted the beauty and richness of Tripura, describing it as a state rich in natural beauty, with pristine hills, green valleys, and ancient water bodies. He also emphasized Tripura's unique blend of cultural heritage and natural splendor. The NEC meeting will focus on the development of the region, seeking to address key challenges and opportunities in this diverse area of India.
