Agartala, July 2: Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, faced criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for his recent statements in Parliament. BJP State President Rajeev Bhattacharya expressed disapproval of Gandhi’s conduct, deeming it unfitting for parliamentary decorum.

During a press conference at the state BJP office, Bhattacharya demanded that Rahul Gandhi educate the party’s senior leadership on upholding parliamentary dignity. He cited Gandhi’s behavior since 2004, even when not in a constitutional position, as questionable. The state president also raised concerns about Gandhi’s remarks allegedly insulting Hindus.

On Monday, Rahul Gandhi asserted, “This country is not a country of fear,” emphasizing non-violence and invoking Lord Shiva’s Abhaya Mudra. However, he also accused those identifying as Hindus of spreading violence, lies, and hatred. Bhattacharya emphasized that the BJP, as a party, adheres to the principles of truth, irrespective of religious affiliations.

The controversy highlights the delicate balance between freedom of expression and maintaining respect within the democratic framework.
