Agartala: July 03:  In response to MP Biplab Kumar Deb’s inquiry in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, has provided an update on the status of four new ropeway projects in Tripura.

According to the minister’s letter, detailed surveys and monitoring have commenced for the ropeway project connecting Maharani to Chimramura. However, further work will only proceed after the completion of this report.

Additionally, survey work has begun for the proposed ropeways from Udaipur Railway Station to Matabari (Tripura Sundari Mandir), Surmachera (Kamalpur), and Jampui Hill (Kanchanpur). The next phase of these projects will be based on the results of the pre-survey assessments.

MP Biplab Kumar Deb had previously emphasized the importance of these ropeways for tourism development in Tripura. Despite the agreement signed in Guwahati on November 11, 2022, between National Highway Logistics Management Limited and Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited, construction has not yet commenced. The timely implementation of these projects is crucial for improving connectivity and promoting local tourism.
