Agartala: July 03: Students of Melaghar Girls’ High School staged a protest by blocking the Melaghat-Sonamura road in response to the transfer of their beloved science teacher, Sentu Mondal, to another location. The students were adamant about retaining their favorite teacher within their own school.

On Wednesday, the students sat down and obstructed the main road in front of the Melaghat police station, demanding that Sentu Mondal be returned to their school. Their frustration stemmed from the fact that there is currently one female science teacher and one male science teacher at the school, and the transfer of their cherished teacher was met with strong resistance.

In response to the blockade, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) of Melaghar Municipality promptly arrived at the scene. The DCM attempted to persuade the protesting students, emphasizing that another teacher would replace Sentu Mondal. Given the presence of a female science teacher, the students’ blockade was deemed unwarranted.

Ultimately, after assurances from the DCM, the students withdrew their road blockade. However, the disruption caused delays for various vehicles, inconveniencing ordinary pedestrians.
